The latest is that they are not going to re-introduce solar panels to the White House roof. The reason this is a big deal is because the President of the US is viewed as a symbol of ideals, decisions, etc… It is great for the US government to spend $80 billion dollars on renewable energy development, but in the public eye, it nearly as important to get a few solar panels back on the roof of the White House. This is again for the symbolism of the act. If you are going to talk the talk, then you should walk the walk. There is no reason why the White House should not be powered by renewable energy, if we are going to make financial investment and tell people that this is a priority, then we need our symbolic leaders to conduct their lives with that same philosophy.
