Washing your hair everyday strips your hair and scalp of their protective natural oils (which then pushes oil production to increase, starting a cycle of more oil, more washing, etc.)
It is recommended to only wash your hair twice a week, but you can start by reducing washing frequency to every other day. (Try using a spray-on dry shampoo the days you don’t wash if you hair gets very oily in the beginning.)
