One of the most harmful impacts of industrial fishing is overfishing. A 2006 paper by a group of ecologists and economist found that if current fishing trends continued, particularly those associated with industrial and commercial fishing, the world’s fish supply would diminish. This would have massive destructive ecological and economic effects.
Industrial fishing can eventually deplete the marine life in our ecosystems. Fishes cannot reproduce themselves as fast as our human population’s demand for them can compete with. We are demanding more for less, and this can drastically affect the amount of fish in the sea.
