The Ljubljanica River in Slovenia’s capit is considered sacred and often inhabitants would offer treasures to celebrate rites of passage, in mourning, or as praise for good fortune in battle.
Do people protect rivers like these from pollution at all?
It is believed that the river has always been considered a sacred place, and that people have thrown valuable items into it during rites of passage, as thanks, or as part of mourning rituals.
