Why has the Mississippi River been clogged with thousands of dead fish?

If this is what you are referring to, the cause was initially unknown but officials suspected that it was linked to the oil spill and the chemical dispersants released into the Gulf. However, it turns out that the mass fish kill was not due to the BP oil spill but to low oxygen levels caused by “low tide and high temperatures.” Thousands of fish and other aquatic life were suffocated as a result.
