“Green” energy in it’s modern usage by definition is energy that is produced in an environmentally friendly way. Some of the characteristics that justify this label is that a) they are renewable and thus do not deplete natural resources and b) do not pollute the environment with the production of contaminants such as carbon dioxide or radioactive waste. Some examples of these would be solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, etc.
