Water pollution is a global problem for several reasons. One, the Earth never creates new water, instead recycles water, and any pollutants in it, throughout the planet, spreading one region’s pollution to another area. Rivers and oceans also carry water from one place to another, bringing with it the original area’s pollution. Two, the oceans are governed by multiple nations so any oceanic problems must be dealt with internationally. Three, the problems caused by water pollution affect multiple regions and are not easily solved, so they must be dealt with globally.
All water pollution on the surface eventually drains into the ocean. All the oceans of the world are connected. When a factory in China dumps toxic waste into the sea, it’ll eventually reach all the coastlines of the world.
