Why is gentrification important?

Gentrification is another way of beautifying areas that have buildings that are in need of renovation. When city funds or building owners cannot afford to fix building problems in poorer neighborhoods gentrification becomes important to raise the property values in the area and to make these urban areas look better to visitors and residents. It is unfortunate that these renovation projects displace the lower class, but the process also helps those who are not displaced gain more value from their property.
