Pesticides include insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, and fungicides. It affects ground & surface water and causes contamination of the water through slow moving plumes and the contaminant may travel far from source. This causes increased drinking water treatment costs and is toxic to plants and animals. Fertilizers have excess nitrogen and phosphorus which also can leach into water tables and have negative impacts on water quality.
