Estrogen is making its way into the US water supplies because of birth control. The urine of women on birth control inadvertently gets into sewers, which releases estrogen and other hormones into the supply of drinking water.
Recent studies have shown that the pharmaceutical sources (women on birth control or treating menopause) is not the reason. The individual being treated metabolizes portions of the drug as well as treatment systems that further reduce sources. However – what they did find was that farm animals, agricultural chemicals, industrial pollution, crops and wild plants provide the bulk of estrogens in waterways. Please see the link below.
