Why is driftnet fishing bad?

The drawback to driftnet fishing is not the impact it has on the intended fish populations or their environments; it actually stems from the number of dolphins and turtles that are accidentally caught in the nets. Although drift netting is illegal in international waters it is still allowed in some US territories.
