Why don’t we start using the Asian carp in the Great lakes for food?

Asian carp reproduce quickly and eat large amounts of plankton.  By the time we establish a commercial fishery for carp–if a market for one indeed exists in the Great Lakes region– the damage will have already been done to the Great Lakes’ ecosystem.  Catching and eating them will help, but it is not enough by itself.
