Why don’t we sell the Toyota IQ in America?

One of the primary reaons is that the iQ would have to be modified intensively to meet American safety standards. It has a total of nine air bags, including the world’s first rear-window curtain air bag. The latter air bag would need to modified especially to be sold in the US market. Another reason it that the low price tag and fuel consumption ratings have the potential to lure away customers from the expensive Prius and Yaris. The last one isn’t really a reason for me, however.
