I had never heard of the flex your power awards.
While the green movement is growing more and more in strength and size, our culture as a whole still does not value it as much as other things. Even people who win the Nobel Prize are not as well known in popular culture as people who win the Oscar for Best Actor. It is a matter of public interest, and sadly, much of the public is not interested. While environmentalists and maybe semi-environmentalists want to hear about green awards, most people want to hear about who got eliminated from American Idol.
Increasingly, however, people and businesses who do receive green awards create their own publicity in order to improve brand reputation. Consumers are becoming more selective about buying products from an environmentally and socially responsible company. As this trend continues to expand, green awards will become more publicized.
