I’m guessing that there just isn’t money to do it anymore. All of our resources with regards to recycling and the environment are going to the actual facilities and programs as opposed to spending it on commercials spreading the word. I think that they decided that the idea of recycling is pretty well ingrained in our society at this point, and the people that don’t recycle aren’t going to start recycling just because there are some commercials about it. Most people that are going to recycle do so already, so the funds would probably be better put towards the programs themselves.
Because “going green” is a ubiquitous trend now, waste management services have little incentive to spend money on advertising. The money would be better spent on facility or service expansion.
