Why don’t precious metals have the same problems that conflict diamonds have?

    Actually, they do. My guess would be that diamonds are more valuable so they are used more, or maybe it’s just a matter of publicity. And location, of course – a country may have deposits of one valuable resource or another, determining what will be used to fund wars that blood diamonds are famous for. For example, gold in Democratic Republic of Congo made the news because it is used to fund the civil war there.
