Why don’t more daily newspapers report on environmental issues?

Deadlines!  Most reporters for daily newspapers have daily deadlines and a daily need for fresh content, and doing a report on environmental issues can sometimes take tons of research and data analysis–this all takes time.  Also, crimes (murder, robbery, arson) are salacious and grab headlines, which sell papers.  There are daily newspapers that report on environmental issues, though, especially newspapers in cities that are more rural or rely on the environment (like the ocean, for fishing or trade) for their economic development.  There’s an environmental story from a daily paper in Maine in the citations below.
