Why does your throat hurt after you vomit?

Because vomit contains digestive acid. This acid is produced in your stomach and is intended to dissolve the food you eat. Your stomach naturally coats itself in mucus to protect itself from this acid, but your throat doesn’t, because the acid is supposed to stay in your stomach.
