why does the queen bee only lay eggs

The queen is the only one that lays eggs because they are fed royal jelly during their larvae stages. The jelly releases hormones in the bees body that causes it to grow differently than the other bees.

Yes, only the queen lays eggs. The workers are all females that do not reproduce. The female will mate and deposit her eggs, which are cared for my the workers. There is only one queen in the hive and she is fed “royal jelly” to help her release hormones so she can mate and reproduce.
