Why does properly inflated tires make your car more efficient?

It has to do with rolling resistance, which is “the amount of force needed to keep tires moving at a constant speed.” When your tires are under-inflated, your car essentially has to work harder to keep the tires going. In other words, it takes more force to do this, which translates into consuming more gas. Tires that aren’t properly inflated can affect your mileage, dropping it by as much as 6 percent.
