Why does our Italian Prune drop it’s fruit before it ripens? We’re in Eastern Washington.

The tree appears healthy and is usually is loaded with fruit but most of it will drop prematurely.

With some Italian Prune trees, it will take time for the fruit to bear and be fully ready for a couple of years. An average time is 3-6 years, this might be what is causing your problem. If that is not the problem, here is a link that lists most of the problems and solutions to fruit trees misbehaving. http://cru.cahe.wsu.edu/CEPublications/eb0838/eb0838.html. Plus where in Eastern Washington are you from, I’m originally from Sunnyside
