why does my maple tree have white stains on the leaves that look like white powder or paint?

A few years ago I noticed these stains on the leaves of the tree. Each year they bseem to get progessively worste.

    The white stains are fungus. Your maple tree is probably infected by some kind of bacteria – it could just be from air currents.
