Why does the moon make it harder to see the stars?

If you are speaking of when the moon is full, it is harder to see stars because of the amount of light that the moon omits when it’s in the full phase. The full moon has a magnitude of 12.7, this is so bright that it has the ability to overpower the night sky making it difficult to see dimmer objects (Love, 2011).
