Why does water look white then turn clear?

Water is naturally colorless, but when it comes out of the faucet, the turbulence causes light to reflect and defract within the stream. This causes the white color – there’s nothing different about the composition of the water. When the water settles, there is no turbulence inside the glass. Turbulence also causes whitecaps on top of rough waves.
