Why does it seem like some companies are made for electric vehicles, while others struggle?

There is a general lack of consumer interest for these electric vehicles, mainly due to the maximum range of 80–100 miles per charge, and the relatively high price. Oil companies are afraid of losing out on trillions of dollars in potential profit from their transportation fuel monopoly over the coming decades, so these companies are said to be working against the advancement of the EVs. Auto companies are also afraid of losses in EV production.
