Why does it never snow near the coastline in America?

Snow does occur in some coastal areas in the United States.  Alaska, the Mid-Atlantic region as well as New England all receive coastal snowfall when conditions are right.  Coastal areas of Washington state and Oregon all have recorded snowfall in their weather history.  Coastal areas in the more temperate regions of the US such as the south or southwest are too warm for snowfall.  Other land areas including the coast receive frozen precipitation when freezing temperatures and precipitation mix.
