India is the 8th most biodiverse country in the word. Part of this is because the monsoon season brings huge amounts of rainfall, which supports a great deal of vegetation and forest. This in turn can support many animals. Another reason is that it has several dramatically different and diverse habitats, incuding tropical forests and the Himalayas mountains.
