Typically humidity effects hair in different ways dependant on the chemicals in your hair. There is water within the hair shaft and it is also capapbel of absorbing water. Humidity in the air creates a larger hair shaft and causes the hair to either curl or straighten. If your hair has sulfur in it, it will curl once swollen, if your hair is straight, the hydrogen bonds break and it will go flat.
