Ethanol does not naturally occur in gasoline, it is added to gasoline in an attempt to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to allow us to rely more on renewable energy sources. Ethanol oxygenates gas, allowing it to burn more completely, which is better for air quality. It’s safer than some of the synthetic chemicals previously used to oxygenate fuel that were finding their way back into the environment.
