Why does noise pollution effect the environment?

Noise pollution affects the environment in similar ways it affects humans. Noise may result in hearing loss and stress, which in turn may result in territory abandonment or less reproduction. Furthermore, noises may mask environmental cues which would otherwise warn an animal of a predator or threat.
