why does caffeine give you energy?

Caffeine, a stimulant, is the most widely used psychoactive substance in the world. It “energizes” us through a number of additive processes: increased alertness, increased willingness to perform repetitive tasks, reduction of boredom, increased willingness to think over novel solutions to a problem or dilemma, and increased physical endurance. These processes can take effect only 15 minutes after a user consumes caffeine.

One should be aware that although caffeine does bestow these energizing effects upon its user, it brings negative effects as well. I’ve detailed these effects in my cited URLs.
