Algae is a good source for biofuels thanks to its quick growing cycle, ability to be harvested multiple times per week, and high composition of oil (50%). In addition, algae does not take a large amount of land or resources to grow. Finally, the use of algae allows traditional crops like corn and soy to continue being used for food production rather than fuel.
