Why do you think that rabbit aren’t a possible protein in supermarkets?

Obviously they are possible. American tastes do not include as a general statement rabbit, squirrel, gopher, etc. So there is no real market, so supermarkets don’t carry things that will not sell.

Rabbits are a popular pet in America, making some people squeamish about eating rabbit meat. I’m a rabbit owner, so I’m one of those Americans who have no desire to see rabbit in the meat aisle. The Easter Bunny also contribute to the idea of the rabbit being a cute animal rather than a food animal, though Porky Pig would balk at that idea.
