Some people might pay the extra money, because they think they’ll wind up saving money in the long run on gas. However, according to a recent study in the Wall Street Journal, the gas-savings for most hybrids isn’t enough to offset the extra cost of the vehicle. More likely, I think people pay the extra money in order to act responsibly toward the environment. It’s the same reason people pay extra money for organic produce.
