why do you think meiosis results in only half the number of chromosomes that mitosis produces?

    Mitosis is the process that body cells undergo to keep the body alive. They have to make exact duplicates of themselves and all the DNA inside them to keep the body alive. Meiosis is the duplication of cells to make sex cells. Sex cells only require half the number of chromosomes because that sex cell will join with another sex cell to produce an embryo with the full number of chromosomes.
