When skiing or snowboarding you are especially in danger of sun damage, which is mostly because light bounces off the snow and hits your face more intensely, because the whiteness of snow reflects light. It is also true that most skiing and snowboarding is done on mountains which are at a high elevation, which means you are closer to the sun.
