Why do we not hear that much about Africanized honey bees any more?

This is probably because, while the Africanized honey bee was a relatively new phenomenom in the 90’s, it has fallen victim to the common statement of “Familiarity breeds contempt.” The “killer bee” has reached the point where it’s home area is relatively well defined, and therefore it is no longer nationwide news, especially when compared to hurricanes, earthquakes, or flu outbreaks that cause greater loss of life than 1 – 2 people a year. So blame it on the idea that journalists have to use what sells, and most people will never be in danger from a killer bee.

However, if you live in an area inhabited by killer bees, they can still make the news.

    I hope this helped!
