Why do we mount cameras on birds?

Sometimes scientists mount cameras on wildlife to get footage of the animals interacting without humans around. Sometimes scientists need the animals to take the cameras people cannot so easily go. Or places where humans could cause harm to the animals like a breeding ground. Sometimes with animals like diving birds scientists use the cameras and sensory equipment to better understand what the animals DO when they are hundreds of feet beneath the ocean surface and cannot be observed by humans.
