Why do we make non rechargeable batteries anymore?

The main answer I am finding is a business-related one. Simply, consumers seem to prefer batteries that can be used right away rather than waiting for them to charge first. On the other hand, technologies in rechargeable batteries are reportedly getting better, as mentioned in this Wikipedia article, so perhaps we will see this change in the future.

Non rechargeable batteries are still being produced for a variety of reasons. Some of these reasons include; high energy density design, wide availability, low initial cost, and convenience. Non rechargeable batteries are the primary choice for single use applications such as guided missiles.
