Why do we have such a big problem with drilling for oil in Alaska but not the diamond mines?

That’s a great question to ask! It could be simply a matter of public perception. Oil drilling has been all over the news for years…it’s clearly a big and messy operation; oil is messy black liquid that spills and damages wildlife, etc. DIamond mines haven’t really been on the news all too much–and besides, diamonds are seen by the average person as this tiny, pristine thing. Most people probably have no idea what goes into actually producing a polished diamond that we would see set in jewelry.

This is just my take, though. I could be wrong.

We don’t have a problem with diamond mines in Alaska because there are none.
