Why do we focus so much more on recycling than reducing or reusing?

Some might argue that consumerism plays a part in this. Sociey constantly encourages consumers to buy through various outlets such as the media. The lucrative commercial business is a strong example of this. Even recycling has money potential. Requiring energy and money, the recyling business allows people and companies to gain profits from it. Reducing or reusing on the other hand does not profit the economy, so it is not as readily encouraged. The swiffer is a perfect example of this, rather than reusing one mop, the product’s one use refills requires people to continue buying and thus makes the company more money. Through smart marketing, the brand as do many other companies, easily persuades people that this method is much better.
