Why do the waves light up blue sometimes?

The waves are blue because they absorb colors from the red end of the light spectrum. This filters out colors that are close to red and reflects back only a blue color. The light that lights up the waves comes from the sun. The ocean can be different colors, such as blue or red, if the particles there absorb a different wavelength of light.
