The largest catfish ever caught came from Thailand and was a 646 pound, 8 feet 9 inches long. In addition, the Mekong catfish was also the fastest growing catfish in the world, hatchlings that were bred in captivity had a 400 percent growth rate over 4 months. The fry (hatchlings) only have teeth for 11 days, making good use of them by eating up as many of their siblings as possible. These fish have massive appetites, along with an expandable abdomen and digestive tract. The world’s largest stingray has also been found in Thailand.
