Why do sturgeon grow so big?

Sturgeon tend to grow very large because they live long lives. Sturgeons can sometimes live up to a hundred years.

They are also carnivorous and thus eat other fish such as salmon. They also eat crayfish, mussels, and worms. Interestingly, sturgeon have also been known to eat tin cans, onions, and wheat from grain elevators.
