A few factors influence the development of scars:
1. Severity and type of wound
2. Location of the wound on body
3. Amount of blood supply to the area
4. Age, race, genetics, life style
Because all of these are variable, some people (usually those who do not exercise often and lead generally unhealthy lives) are prone to scar more easily than others.
A large part of it is how well you take care of the wound afterwards. Disinfectants, good stitiching, and keeping the wound clean and bandaged, but letting it get air at night will all help prevent scarring in almost every one. But not everyone follows these rules.
I hope this helped!
