Scarring is a complex process involving many different proteins. That means that some natural variation in the genes that code these proteins can change the degree of scarring.
Scars are formed when there is a break in the skin, connecting the tissues back together. There are different types of scars that form depending on the wound, and the type of scarring that forms depends on your age, skin color, skin type, and even your sex. The level of scarring can be reduced by applying topical Vitamin E, Vitamin C, and/or massaging the area to loosen up the tissue. Aloe Vera and calendula can also help reduce the appearance of scars as well.
