Despite what you were told as a child, the spots on a ladybug’s back doesn’t correlate its age, but rather its species. The Coccinellid is the species of ladybug without spots. There are species that get up to 13 spots.
I’ve never seen a ladybug without spots, but here is a photo of one. This is the Cycloneda sanguinea ladybug or spotless ladybird beetle.
