Why do some countries claim that wind can power them while others don’t?

One major factor in wind being able to power a specific country or location is the accessibility of the wind itself. In order for wind turbines to be cost-effective, there needs to be adequate amounts of wind to sustain the project. The value of the energy to be produced is a key element is deciding on wind power. Additionally, the acquisition and cost of the land for the turbines themselves, the availability of placing transmission lines, and the environmental impact of construction and operations are all things to take into consideration when deciding if wind power is suitable for a particular location.

Wind is highly dependent on location. Only places that get a lot of strong wind most days of the year can be powered on wind alone. Otherwise, other forms of energy must be used to supplement it. Currently, the country that generates the most of its energy from wind is Denmark at 20%.
