Why do some clouds that are right next to each other move at different speeds?

There are different wind speeds and direction depending on the layer of atmosphere. Though clouds may look like they are next to each other, if they are moving at different speeds, they are located on different layers. Also, the closer clouds are to you, the faster they seem to be moving. Think avout when you are driving on the highway…the yellow spotted lines move faster than the trees a mile out. hope this helps 🙂
