Why do some areas have higher precipitation levels?

The larger the difference in potential temperature ranges in an area, the greater chance of precipitation. This is why coastal or near coastal cities have more rain, especially when there are mountains nearby, to supply warm breezes in contrast with the cold mountain air.

    I hope this helped!
